Things To Do

Martha’s Vineyard is a lovely destination with lots to see and do during your visit. Below we’ve listed some of our favorite things to do, see, and eat on the island.

Up-Island

  • This refers to the western part of Martha's Vineyard (West Tisbury, Chilmark, Menemsha, and Aquinnah).

  • Go for a hike! The MV Land Bank maintains trails all over the island. You can find maps on the TrailsMV App.

  • Visit the Aquinnah Lighthouse for views of beautiful cliffs. Stroll down the walking path to the beach (fun fact: this is where Luke proposed).

  • Get a sandwich from the Chilmark General Store, 7A Foods, or Alley’s.

  • Try a lobster roll from Larsen’s Fish Market in Menemsha (fun fact: Luke used to work here!). Follow it up with some soft serve ice cream from the Galley.

  • Take a jaunt around the Menemsha harbor and then watch the sunset from Menemsha beach.

  • Hit the beach — Lucy Vincent & Squibnocket are our go-tos.

  • Stop by one of the many farm stands for some fresh produce — Beetlebung, Gray Barn, Morning Glory, and Mermaid Farm are just a few.

  • Stop by Orange Peel Bakery or Scottish Bakehouse for a bite.

  • Visit the farmer’s market at the MV Agricultural Hall — Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9am-12pm.

Oak Bluffs

  • Ride the famous Flying Horses Carousel.

  • Walk around and look at the gingerbread houses.

  • Get a treat from Back Door Donuts. Thank us later.

  • Rent bikes and go for a ride! The route from Oak Bluffs to Edgartown and back is a scenic way to explore the island.

  • Visit Inkwell Beach, just a short walk from the ferry terminal.

  • Grab a coffee from Mocha Mott’s.

  • Stop by Ben & Bill’s Chocolate Emporium for some sweets.

  • Get a meal at Sharky’s Cantina.

Edgartown

  • Hit Behind the Bookstore for coffee or a meal.

  • Wander around Main Street and pop into the boutiques and shops.

  • Check out the Edgartown lighthouse.

  • Stop by Mad Martha’s for some ice cream.

  • Grab a brew at Bad Martha Farmers Brewery.

Vineyard Haven

  • Re-caffeinate at Mocha Mott’s.

  • Stop at Waterside Market for breakfast or lunch.

  • Stop by the Black Dog Tavern. There are also Black Dog bakery and store locations in Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, and Tisbury.

  • Walk to the West Chop Lighthouse.

  • Get lunch at John’s Fish Market and Sandy’s Fish & Chips.
